SJM Advisors is a Brisbane based Advisory, Accounting and Wealth Creation firm focused on providing business services and guidance to small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) and individuals. We enjoy a close working relationship with all of our clients, many of whom have been with us more than twenty years.
We do not advertise our services – our clients do that for us by referring their friends and families.
We are a proactive and innovative accounting firm with a small team of professionals that offer a blend of knowledge, experience and innovation. Our success is based on a very close working relationship with our clients – a relationship that we believe enables us to advise you better than other firms many times our size. This is because we have invested the time to really get to know you and understand your needs so we can assist you to achieve your goals for the lowest cost. The firm relies on four factors:

We provide our clients with a broad range of services, coaching and referrals to other professionals to meet your personal and business needs. This, coupled with our focus on building close professional relationships with our clients, means we have an in-depth knowledge of your business and can offer timely advice.
We pride ourselves on our high quality, personal services while passing onto our clients the benefits of our relatively small size and lower overheads. We believe that our size, together with the fact that we do not hesitate to draw upon outside expertise, makes us a formidable force in the professional marketplace.
We are primarily a referral only practice. We usually accept clients from referrals from existing clients or business associates. We use the initial interview with prospective clients to get to know you and to get a good understanding of your business, tax and financial advisory requirements. We do not accept all prospective clients because we believe that the fit between us and our clients (both personality and accounting requirements) needs to be right to ensure a long term and mutually beneficial relationship.
The previous name for the practice was S J McDonald & Associates until a modernisation of the name in 2016. The practice is still owned and operated by the same team.

As the Director, Scott’s passion for business means that he treats each client’s affairs as if they were his. Scott has in excess of 30 years’ experience in the public accounting profession. Scott has a passion for Information technology and varied other interests. Scott is a Fellow Member of CPA Australia, Certified Tax Advisor and Registered Tax Agent..
John commenced with us in 2007 and brings a number years of accounting experience to the Team at SJM Advisors. John takes great pride in ensuring that his work is completed to the highest of standards. John is a member of CPA Australia.
Jack has been a member of the SJM Team since 2012. He is very hard working, easy-going and enthusiastic about learning all that he can from the wide range of advisory roles that businesses require. Jack is a Qualified Accountant and Registered Tax Agent.
Sue is enthusiastic about delivering exceptional customer service to all clients and bringing an upbeat energy to our reception.
As office manager, She keeps the ship running behind the scenes.
